Embossing edges like Spellbinders Nestabillities

I have been experimenting with recreating the edge embossed effects that you get when using Spellbinders Nestabillities dies.

I am not sure if you will be able to see the detail of the samples in my photo’s but I will explain what I have done so that you can try it for yourselves.

This was all done using the standard 12″ x 12″ mat on a sheet of Anna Marie Designs Bazzix textured card.

Emboss & Borders 1

Images above clockwise from top left – single inline embossed and cut outline, single inline pen and cut outline, multi inline 0.03 x 9 pen and cut, multi inline 0.03 x 9 pen cut inside to create frame, multi inline 0.03 x 9 emboss, multi inline 0.03 x 9 emboss and cut outline.

Emboss & Borders 2

Emboss & Borders 4

Create your shape and then either multi inline or outline 0.03 x 9 Using the standard mat, use the emboss tool on its own to create the above effect.

For the effect below as above but change the outermost line colour, then using the standard mat, use the emboss tool first and then without removing your mat change to the blade tool and cut the outline.

Emboss & Borders 3

I think I might have to try this on the foam embossing mat next.

  • Hi Richard,

I was excited to see what you did here as I’ve created a lot of my own “spellbinder” type label files and experimented with the embossed edge but wasn’t entirely successful. Will you be posting instructions on how you achieved the effect above? Thanks!

  • Not sure what is missing all my notes to date are there.

I am looking at writing a more in depth tutorial but am very busy creating my own series of CD’s at the moment.
